Desktop app
Download FXCode for Windows, macOS or Linux and keep it one keystroke away in the system tray.
The desktop app opens FXCode in its own window, lives in the system tray, and shows or hides from anywhere with Ctrl + Alt + F (⌘ + ⌥ + F on Mac). It uses your app.fxcode.dev account: it doesn’t store any data of its own.
Download
Pick the installer for your system. The links always download the latest version, no account needed:
| System | Download |
|---|---|
| Windows 10/11 | Installer (.exe) · .msi |
| macOS 11 or later (Apple Silicon and Intel) | Universal .dmg |
| Linux | .AppImage (any distribution) · .deb (Debian/Ubuntu) · .rpm (Fedora) |
The version, the file names and their SHA-256 are in latest.json.
Install
Windows
Run the setup.exe. It installs for your user, with no admin rights required. Since the installer isn’t signed yet, Windows SmartScreen may warn you: click More info → Run anyway.
macOS
Open the .dmg and drag FXCode into Applications. The app isn’t signed with an Apple certificate, so the first time, open it with right-click → Open (or from System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway).
Linux
# AppImage
chmod +x FXCode_*.AppImage && ./FXCode_*.AppImage
# Debian / Ubuntu
sudo apt install ./FXCode_*_amd64.deb
# Fedora
sudo dnf install ./FXCode-*.x86_64.rpm
The tray icon needs libayatana-appindicator (the .deb and .rpm packages install it for you).
Your local skills
Only the desktop app can read and edit the skills on your machine (~/.claude/skills, ~/.agents/skills and the repos you authorize): open Skills in the menu. See Review agent skills.
Update
Download the new installer from the links above and install it over the old one: your session is kept. Every release lists its changes in the changelog.
Build from source
If you’d rather build it yourself, you need Rust and, on Windows, the Visual Studio Build Tools:
pnpm install
pnpm build:desktop
The installers end up in apps/desktop/src-tauri/target/release/bundle.
