Install
Every way to use FXCode — the web app, the desktop app, the CLI, the MCP server and the agent skills.
FXCode is a service: your account lives at app.fxcode.dev and everything else connects to it. Pick what you need; you can combine all of them.
| Option | What it’s for | Setup |
|---|---|---|
| Web app | The full dashboard | Nothing: open it in your browser |
| Desktop app | FXCode in its own window and in the tray | Installer for Windows, macOS or Linux |
fxc CLI |
Tasks, ideas and notes from the terminal and scripts | One-line installer (single binary) |
| MCP server | Let your assistant (Claude, Cursor…) read and update your tasks | Ships with the CLI |
| Agent skills | Make your coding agents follow the FXCode way of working | Link two folders |
Rather host it yourself? See Self-hosted.
Web app
Sign in at app.fxcode.dev with Google, Microsoft, GitHub, an email link or email and password. There’s nothing to install.
Desktop app
Opens FXCode in its own window, lives in the system tray, and shows or hides with Ctrl + Alt + F (⌘ + ⌥ + F on Mac).
Download the latest version: Windows (.exe, or the .msi) · macOS (universal .dmg) · Linux (.AppImage, or the .deb / .rpm). Installation and unsigned-app warnings: Desktop app.
CLI fxc
A single binary, no Node required. The installer downloads the latest version (no account needed), checks its SHA-256 and puts it on your PATH; run it again to update:
# macOS / Linux
curl -fsSL https://api.fxcode.dev/downloads/cli/install-sh | sh
# Windows (PowerShell)
irm https://api.fxcode.dev/downloads/cli/install-ps1 | iex
Then sign in:
fxc auth login --web --api-url https://api.fxcode.dev
Building from the repository with Node, binaries per system and best practices: fxc CLI.
MCP server
With the CLI installed and signed in, register it in your client:
# Claude Code
claude mcp add fxcode --scope user -- fxc mcp
In Cursor, Claude Desktop and other clients, add a stdio server with the command fxc and the argument mcp. Tools and configuration: MCP server.
Agent skills
From the repository folder, link the skills into your skills directory:
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills
ln -s "$PWD/skills/fxc" ~/.claude/skills/fxc
ln -s "$PWD/skills/fxc-scan" ~/.claude/skills/fxc-scan
On Windows, use New-Item -ItemType Junction. Details and what each one does: Agent skills.
